Parents and Guardians
保護者へのお願い

Parents and guardians are welcome to participate in one of our practices as a free trial session. If
you wish to join the club, please speak to one of our sensei.

Please accompany your child at tournaments and promotion exams. We also ask that you
consider helping out as a volunteer at kendo events hosted by our federation, SCKO, such as
tournaments and promotion exams. We appreciate your help.

We discourage parents and guardians from helping younger children put on kendo gear or
providing instruction to them, as we are trying to help them become independent. We teach our
older children to help their juniors, so please allow them to do so.

We encourage parents and guardians to stay and watch their children practice. However, we ask
that you refrain from eating, socializing loudly or talking on cell phones during practice, as it can
be distracting to those practicing or teaching. We also kindly ask that you remain seated in a
respectable manner. We are trying to teach the children to maintain good posture and hope that
you set a good example to them as well.

Taking photos and videos of practice is permitted. However, please obtain permission from those
included in the photos or videos prior to posting them online or on social media.

Gardena Kendo Club staff is responsible for posting photos or videos onto our website and official
social media accounts.

If you or your child will be absent for an extended period of time, please communicate that to the
head instructor and treasurer. Please consult our treasurer regarding membership dues.

Please note that we may have to ask a child to step away from a practice session if he or she is
distracted or is being disruptive.

If you or your child wish to participate in promotion exams, tournaments or practices at other
dojos, in the US or abroad, please consult our sensei first. Permission may depend on
attendance and skill level.
